La Woon Yan has a background in research, financial analysis, business development, and as an educator. La Woon previously worked at Ikeya Capital Management as an Investment Analyst, helping startups to test new products with potential customers, pricing strategies and competition analysis in the region. La Woon has also led EME’s own research into several markets, including logistics, creative and agriculture.
La Woon has experience in both qualitative and quantitative research: he conducted research on “Effectiveness of MFIs to the Farmers in Rural Areas”, as one of the researches during Parami Leadership Program; and completed research on “Brand Equity of International Home Appliance Electronics in Myanmar” as the graduate thesis for his MBA Degree.
Having the background in literature, and as an internationally published poet, La Woon previously worked at a Private High School in NayPyiTaw as an English Literature Instructor and consultant for students, while he was studying undergraduate degree.
La Woon is interested in startups developing products and services which can contribute meaningful value to rural consumers in Myanmar. La Woon believes providing access to finance and strategic mentorship is key to enabling local entrepreneurs in their journey of growing their ventures to the next stage.
La Woon studied English Literature at Yadanarbon University. He holds an MBA from University of Economics, Monywa. He is also an alumni of Parami Leadership Program from Parami Institute. He is a Myanmar citizen.
